Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken
- 4 pieces Chicken Thighs (use skin-on for crispy texture)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced for maximum flavor infusion)
For the Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Plain Flour (can use cornstarch as gluten-free substitute)
- 3 tablespoons Wholegrain Mustard (Dijon mustard can be used)
- 4 tablespoons Honey (maple syrup for vegan option)
- 200 ml Chicken Stock (low-sodium for healthier choice)
- 100 ml Organic Sweet Chilli Sauce (adjust based on heat preference)
For Serving
- 200 grams Green Beans (broccoli or asparagus are good substitutes)
- 2 cups Steamed Rice (quinoa is a healthy alternative)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced) to prepare for baking the chicken.
- Brown the Chicken: In an ovenproof pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down and brown them for about 4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan with the browned chicken and sauté for approximately 30 seconds until fragrant, releasing the garlic’s aroma.
- Add Flour and Sauce Ingredients: Sprinkle the flour over the chicken and stir well to incorporate. Then whisk in the honey, wholegrain mustard, chicken stock, and sweet chilli sauce to create a smooth sauce coating the chicken.
- Coat Chicken with Sauce: Return the browned chicken, ensuring it is well-coated in the flavorful sauce mixture.
- Bake: Transfer the ovenproof pan to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and tender, absorbing the sauce flavors.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve the chicken with steamed rice and green beans alongside for a complete meal.
Notes
- Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for added flavor and color.
- Adjust the amount of sweet chilli sauce to control the spice level according to your preference.
- For a gluten-free variation, use cornstarch instead of plain flour.
- Use maple syrup to make the sauce vegan-friendly when substituting for honey.
