Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Base
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 hot chocolate packets (or 6 tablespoons of hot chocolate mix)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Toppings
- 3 cups mini marshmallows
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch pan or casserole dish with parchment paper or foil. Lightly spray it with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the fudge from sticking, ensuring easy removal once set.
- Melt the Chocolate Mixture: Combine the milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and unsalted butter in a double boiler. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and hot chocolate powder to blend flavors. Alternatively, place all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl if not using a double boiler.
- Heat and Stir: If using a double boiler, warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning until fully melted and smooth. If microwaving, heat for 45 seconds, stir, then continue heating in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted.
- Add Flavor and Marshmallows: Once melted, stir in the vanilla extract for depth of flavor. Gently fold in 2 cups of mini marshmallows to incorporate some of the fluffy texture within the fudge.
- Transfer and Top: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows evenly on top and gently press them into the fudge so they adhere and create an inviting topping.
- Chill to Set: Cover the pan and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to allow the fudge to fully set and develop its rich texture.
Notes
- Use parchment paper edges as handles to lift the fudge out easily after chilling.
- For an extra touch, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top before chilling to enhance the chocolate flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- To vary the flavor, try substituting vanilla extract with peppermint or hazelnut extract.
