Description

Creamy Parmesan Beef Linguine with Garlic Butter Sauce is a comforting and rich dish featuring tender ground beef simmered in a luscious cream and parmesan sauce, tossed with perfectly cooked linguine and aromatic garlic and onion. This easy-to-make pasta recipe delivers layers of flavor, with Italian herbs and optional heat from red pepper flakes, finished with fresh parsley for a bright touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 oz linguine pasta

Beef and Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or thyme, chopped (optional)
  • Extra parmesan cheese and black pepper, for serving (optional)

Other

  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add linguine and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta water, and set the pasta aside.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter. Add minced garlic and finely diced yellow onion, sautéing until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  3. Cook Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet with the aromatics. Cook thoroughly, breaking it up with a spoon until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Make Sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Add freshly grated parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes if using. Allow the sauce to simmer for 4–5 minutes until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
  5. Toss Pasta: Add the cooked linguine to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time to loosen and achieve desired consistency.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley or thyme if desired. Serve immediately, optionally topping with extra parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper for added flavor.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use freshly grated parmesan cheese instead of pre-grated.
  • You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes based on preferred spice level or omit for a milder taste.
  • Reserve pasta water is key to achieving a silky sauce that coats the pasta nicely.
  • Serve with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
