Ingredients
Scale
Muffin Batter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Swirl Filling
- ⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Vanilla Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin by lining it with paper liners or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt ensuring an even distribution of leavening agents.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
- Make the batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir gently just until no streaks of flour remain; avoid overmixing to keep muffins tender.
- Prepare cinnamon filling: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter, mixing until evenly blended to create the cinnamon swirl filling.
- Fill muffin cups: Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of muffin batter into each muffin cup. Add a small spoonful of the cinnamon filling on top of the batter layer.
- Top and swirl: Add more muffin batter to fill each cup about three-quarters full. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon filling into the batter to create a marbled effect.
- Bake the muffins: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Prepare the glaze: While the muffins cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and pourable.
- Glaze and serve: Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the warm muffins. Serve immediately to enjoy their gooey, soft texture and irresistible flavor.
